WRICHARD RAP-UP!

SUCCESS!!!

That was three days of straight radness, folks!

Honestly: you guys and girls are the best.

Thank you to everyone who played, came out, volunteered, and did their best to help when things were hectic, crazy, or otherwise not ideal: WE DID IT!

Special thanks to Marty Minorbird and Nick Miles for their sound advice.

Now we need one more thing from all of you:

Please send us the photos you took of the event! Tag us on Facebook if that's the way ya wanna do it! Develop those pics if you had a fun saver! We'd love to share them with everybody here on the blog in the next couple weeks!

RICHARD DREYFEST 2015, DAY 3

Hello again, Festfolk!

Yesterday was another set of kickass shows and hangs, but we do want to take a minute to pull our tongues out of their usual positions (of being planted in our cheeks), to say something that we feel is of high importance:

We are all part of a scene, and the purpose of this fest- or ANY show- is for people have a good time; to alleviate some of the bad feelings we have to deal with in our daily lives; to create a better scene. It is selfish, and ultimately destructive to the scene, for any member of our larger group to purposefully ruin another person's good time and to cause more of the shitty feelings that we're all trying to ward off.
Please be good to each other; not in the name of the fest or of any one specific person, but because we are all in the same boat-
we ALL want to have a good time.

That said, let's put our money where our mouths are and start having a blast! Here's today's schedule:

Potluck at North Park at 11am! Yeah, that's right, roll outta bed and bring some food to share! If you don't have any food to bring, then just come down and load up on free noms and hang! And then afterward...

Kickball is at the same park, around noon. After that, the show runs all day at North Park, so you don't even have to go anywhere!

DRYFEST '15, DAY 2!

Holy-!

Last night we were rocked, rocked, rocked, danced like madfolk, witnessed a giant bear arise from beneath the stage, and Jordan Finn was crowned king of the swamp!

Yesterday was amazing; and we are just picking up steam!

We are right in the middle of this now (both the fest and the shark's mouth)

Here's today's schedules (for both venues):

Important notes: Duchovny cancelled last-minute, unfortunately, so WHITECATPINK is the closer at the Railyard.

And speaking of that venue: At the Railyard, there'll be a bingo-ball roller containing several balls; one has a Dreyfest face on it. For a small charge (all money goes to paying the traveling bands), you crank the roller. If you get the Dreyface, you win a prize! And we have some fun and goofy things to choose from.

Don't get caught unaware!

It's today?!
(still taken from the movie "The apprenticeship
of Duddy Kravitz"...Which has nothing to do with split pants
or weiners...well...it kinda has to do with weiners...)

Here's the schedule for tonight...try to be on time!

And don't forget that we're running a Richard Dreyfuss lookalike contest this evening. The winner gets some cool junk! Bring your props and your best whine!

THE BANDS & ARTISTS NOT INTERVIEWED!

There are a handful bands/artists who we didn't get to interview this year. Rather than read about these upsetting coulda-beens in Missed Connections, here's a quick rundown:

Is it a little dopey that we didn't get to interview a few bands?
...heh....heh............please kill me.

FUULS - Proof positive that some of the bands playing Dreyfest actually know how to play their instruments! Missoula garage rock heavy on high melodies. Or high on heavy melodies. ...Something like that. https://fuuls.bandcamp.com/

The Budgets - Billings local rock. They seem to play one show a year and they somehow headline. It's a damn crime. https://www.facebook.com/thebudgets

Duchovny - Your favorite band from Greely, CO. Indie-r&b-genre-blenders! https://duchovny.bandcamp.com/

Megagiant - "Crafting America's most impressive cultural landmarks since Crazytown's "Butterfly"." https://megagiant.bandcamp.com/

Dropped Call - The headline will probably read: "California noise artist terrorizes small MT fest."
http://droppedcall.bandcamp.com/releases

Reid Perry - A real Montana guy doing a real Montana thing. https://www.reverbnation.com/reidperry1

West America - Female-fronted, kinda jangly, sometimes angular 2 piece. ...Is "jangular" a word? On tour from Los Angeles, CA.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES!

HEY!

You may be innocently asking yourself: "Well, we finally have the schedules, but what other things are happening this year?"

Well, shut the fuck up, you whiner! Here's this year's extra curricular activities!

"Hold up, New York Dolls guy- listen to this radness:"
"My shirt is open because I'm hot hot hot."

THURSDAY:

The show at NOVA will be featuring a Richard Dreyfuss look-alike contest, the winner of which will be presented with a wondrous prize that will include a commemorative shirt, poster, possible Dreyfuss memorabilia, and maybe even an Awful Waffle! *if you got that Salute Your Shorts reference, you may be too old to attend these shows

Costumes will be judged on accuracy, originality, resourcefulness, and being Austin Finn's dad!
Plus one point for for a good Richard impression! (yeah, we know the link's impression was not of Richard's character, but you get the damn drift!)

Think about it- you could look like him in JAWS, or in What About Bob, or American Graffiti, or anything your heart desires!

FRIDAY:

At the Railyard, there'll be a bingo-ball roller containing several balls; one has a Dreyfest face on it. For a small charge (all money goes to paying the traveling bands), you crank the roller. If you get the Dreyface, you win a prize!

SATURDAY:

Potluck at North Park at 11am! Yeah, that's right, roll outta bed and bring some food to share! If you don't have any food to bring, then just come down and load up on free noms and hang! And then afterward...

Kickball at North Park sometime around noon (or a little later...just chill, Captain Punctual). After that, the show runs all day at North Park, so you don't even have to go anywhere!

Lastly:

  • Be on the lookout for the yearly raffle- the winner gets a big tub of band merch!
  • Gravel Alley Zine Distro will be featured at one or two of the shows, so if you want some punk reading material, check it out!
  • This year, we are selling a limited amount of Richard Dreyfest shirts (again, ALL money goes to paying the out of town bands). Pick em up quick 'cuz they're sure to sell out!

Thanks for reading, friends.
