VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT/ROSTER UPDATE!

We are excited to announce some big news!

Uhhh...big what now? ...I'm sorry...I just woke up.
The venues for Richard Dreyfest 2013 are as follows:

Friday, August 2nd: Discontent Billings, Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co., and NOVA Center for the Performing Arts (formerly Venture Theatre)

Saturday, August 3rd: Harper and Madison, Tumbleweed Runaway Program, and the Yellowstone Art Museum

Want to know which artists are playing which venue on which day?? The schedule will be posted soon. And that brings us to “big news” number two:

Unfortunately, some bands have dropped out. Bozeman’s Panther Car and Minneapolis’s Serenghetto and Billings's The Sweets won’t be attending (we hope you can make it next year!). However, we have some new additions to the lineup:

The DAMN Union (Mesilla, NM)

Katy Kemmick (Billings, MT)

PD Lear (Missoula, MT)

Halfway Killed (Billings, MT/San Francisco, CA)

Grunt (Missoula, MT)

Into Orbit (Billings, MT)

The Miller Lite Band (Billings, MT)

And to clear up any confusion, for those who may have heard Richard Tryfest 2013 #2 and thought that more hip hop artists had been added to the lineup, the tracks by Stormy Knight, Jamz Dean, S.K./Prodiga1/Kaetlyn Anne, and Floyd Simmons/Mattz can all be viewed under the banner of Poetic Intelligence, Billings’ hiphop collective (who have been on the bill from the get-go).

Stay tuned, folks- there’s lots of exciting
news and more interviews to come!

RICHARD TRYFEST 2013 #2

Richard Dreyfuss is not a man known for sequels. Though he did star in both Stakeout and Another Stakeout, he was noticably absent from Jaws II, More American Graffiti, and they never made a second Always (I mean, his character was a ghost through most of the movie anyway, so I don’t think that the fact that he died should have prevented a second movie from happening (but maybe the tagline "They couldn't hear him. They couldn't see him. But he was there when they needed him... Even after he was gone." is explanation enough for why Amblin didn’t greenlight a sequel...)).

This time, however, ol’ Richard really pulled through! We are pleased to announce that the second installment of the Richard Dreyfest 2013 compilation is now available for listening and downloading! Click below!

p.s. Thanks to Arvin Davis for the rad artwork!

Enjoy the tunes and see you at Dreyfest!

THE HELLIGANS

The Helligans are from Great Falls, Montana, an airforce town that gets a lot of statewide press for drugs and crime (or, at least, that’s what I always seem to spot in the Billings Gazette). They play hard rocking songs about tough living. Are you a guy/girl who likes outlaw country as much as early punk rock? Or 70’s hard rock as much as Sun Records? Or whiskey as much as beer? Then The Helligans might be right up your alley. Here’s more about them, in their own words:

Your names and what you do in the band:
Harry Pickle - Vocals / Banjo / Guitar
Rob "Super Burrito" Salois - Guitar / Electric Bass
Mike Helligan - Drums
Mickey "Chim" O'Day - Bass
Johnny Walls - Washboard / Spoons / Vocals
Pearl McLanahan - Belly Dancing / Vocals

What’s going on in Great Falls, music-wise right now?
Great Falls is going through a transitional period. The music scene is pretty damn great! We try to help out in any way that we can with touring bands and other MT bands that are looking to book shows in our area. Some of our favorite MT acts to work with would be Tales From Ghost Town, Hell City Kitty and DeadNecks!

What’s going on in Great Falls non-music-wise?
Well, it is summer! Mostly BBQ's and fuckin' around!

Within the last few years, there seems to have been a resurgence of bands interested in bluegrass, folk, country, and skiffle, and incorporating those styles into more current metal, punk, and indie sounds. What do you think of the current wave of roots-influenced music?
Music always comes back to roots. That's the way it should be! The greatest bands in history all were not afraid to blend musical styles to create new styles. It's only natural.

You guys are older than your typical metal/punk-sorta band. Are there advantages to being the older dudes?
Damn, how old do you think we are!!!

Being the older guys, I'm thinking that this can’t be your first musical thing- what other bands have you played in?
Way to many to list! This one is our collective favorite!

That's gotta be weird when you take a picture of your
granddad or your niece's 8th birthday and the photo
comes out with "HELLIGANS" in the corner.
What do you do other than music?
Truck driving, concrete work, school, you know, all the normal life kinda things.

I’m guessing that it’s common knowledge in GF, but I just found out that The Mariana UFO Incident was one of the first ever captured on video. Any conspiracy theorists in the band? What do you guys think of the video?
That was us landing the mothership! It's a sweet 77' Cadillac Eldorado! (We are an advanced species, we were using a 1977 Caddy in 1950!) Rob was the one that shot the video, right before we abducted him and made him one of us!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you:
We're aliens!

You have some sort of microbrew picture posted on your website. Is that shit real?! If so, how can we get a hold of some of your beer?
Our good friends in Hell City Kitty brew up some Helligan Ale for us on occasion. Usually it doesn't last very long though, it's delicious!

Anything you want to plug or let the readers to know about?
Being that we're aliens n' all. We really just want to plug all of your anuses!! Or is it ani? What would be the plural for anus?

I'm no expert on prose, so I can't rightly answer that question...I'm more of a creative-language, poetic sort of guy. So uh...here's something that was inspired, in part, by the things we just covered:

O object from the sky
sailing so very high
o'er the methy trailers of ole GF
Come down to me like you did to Drey-fuss.
And when they land here, or at Devil's Tower,
whether it be soon or at a later hour,
please remember to watch your hind,
madams and sirs,
unless you'd like to find
a probe in yours.
Last, a message to all, from far east to near west:
Merry Christmas to all and see you at Dreyfest!

WEATHER-CONTROL

While growing up, many of us hate the place that we live. We swear we’re going to move away the first chance we get. “ANYwhere would have to be better than here!” Well, listen up, junior: no matter how culturally barren or uninteresting or your area is, rest assured that there’s at least one place that is worse than your ugly smear of a state, and you’re just lucky you don’t live there. It’s called Wyoming. It’s a godforsaken land of oil derricks and endless prairies that rival the mind-numbingly insipid flats of Kansas...only Kansas is better, because at least tornados want to be there.

Upon arriving in Wyoming, and having just traveled through the South Dakotan badlands, Lewis & Clark nicknamed the entire state The Worselands.

Their capital is called Casper because it was named after the only thing that could possibly inhabit such a festering pile of crap- a fucking ghost.

People from Montana are called Montanans. People from Colorado are called Coloradans. What are people from Wyoming called? Wyominginians? Wyomingites? It’s a trick question! People from Wyoming are only called one thing:
SAD.

The only instance that the above statement “ANYwhere would have to be better than here” is actually true, is, in fact, if you are in Wyoming. And if you are from there, I pray that you die early (and have a town named after you) so you won’t have to spend much time standing alone in vast fields of horrible nothingness.

...

I kid! I kid!

...sort of...

Actually, almost everyone I’ve personally met from Cody/Powell is an interesting person full of weird ideas and a surprising drive. Weather-Control is one such group of guys and, in an effort to prove myself wrong about the things I just said (and smooth things over with all the angry firearm-carrying Wyomingiteinians I just offended), I made sure to ask them about what there is to enjoy about their hometowns. Here’s an interview with WY’s Weather-Control:

Weather-Control on the cover of the newly released
photography collection "Ansel Adams Gets Drunk".

Who and what is Weather-Control?
Coleman- Four dudes.
Amos- Weather Control is a rock and roll band I play bass in with my brosephs.
Mike- Weather Control is the brain child of Weston Roemmich. It’s kinda like a more mature chilled out version of the Blokes (which was Wes and myself). The band now includes Wes (git fiddle), myself (drum handles), and Amos Helvey (bass master). We play original material that is all written by Wes, and a couple old Blokes songs if there is still anybody left in the room.
Wes- I came up with the name Weather-Control when I was living in Denver. I found an old comic that was called Magnus Robot Fighter... Your typical beefcake blond hair blue-eyed leotard wearing sci-fi super hero that fights to protect normal human life from advanced robots that run the world. Anyway, one of the volumes has a caption on the bottom of the front page that reads, "an ancient battle rob causes havoc at weather-control". I thought it was rad sounding... + it has a picture of Magnus punching the shit out of some stupid robot bitch!

You guys are sort of based in Cody/Powell, WY. ...What's something that not a lot of people know about that is cool about your home cities/state?
C- You can still be hung for stealing horses
W- One of the raddest parts about where we live is that it’s only 40 miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone. It can be shitty with tourists, but it’s a damn fine place to see. Everything within a 100 mile radius of Cody is so beautiful and diverse as far as landscape goes, which I'm really into. So if you’re into that, get on it!
A- Cody is the rodeo capital of the world, Powell is the biggest shithole on the planet but has a lot of great people.
M- Cody, WY is the home of Buffalo Bill. I like to call it a cowboy hat town. Everyday my girlfriend and I have a competition to see who can point out the biggest truck of the day (nobody ever wins). There is a shit ton of awesome mountains/rivers/lakes around here and if you ever need alone time its a great vacation destination for your whole family situation.

Above, I say that you are "sort of" based there 'cause you guys have moved around quite a bit. Has traveling/living in different places effected your music at all?
C- Well, I don't get to jam with the buds very often
A- It's caused us to start and stop a lot. I thought this band was over until like 2 weeks ago.
M- Living in different places definitely effects the song writing I would say. Wes has a few songs about girls which had to have been written in Denver because we all know there ain't no women in Wyoming.
W- I think I speak for everyone in the band by saying that its never really too troublesome with all of us moving around so much. It's always a pleasure when we have an opportunity to play for these brief stints of time. I mean, after all, it’s just a bunch of songs written and re-hashed by the hands of some real life down home Wyoming boys.

Your new recordings sound damn hot! Hot damn!! What do you credit that to?
C- Gin and chronic.
A- Probably all the AC/DC influence. We refer to our sound as "high voltage”.
W- I have to give most of the credit to Mike.. That rad dad can keep some crazy tight tempo! Not to mention Mike was most adamant about its overall sound and completion, even though we mixed it while being far too inebriated, thus hindering it’s overall quality. Both Mike and myself have been playing together off and on for 6 years now. After completely loosing one full length that we recorded at northwest college in Powell, WY with Blokes, this album served as our comeback. Not that any one could give three shits ...
M- Our last record was recorded by ourselves in various locations and we tried really hard to make it sound tight and raw. The only post processing that is done is some EQ and reverb on the vocals. Every other instrument sounds like it did when we recorded it. The only shitty part is that we decided to mix the album at 2 in the morning under the influence and there are quite a few mistakes in the final mix. I was going to redo it, but my computer crashed the next day and we lost everything. So what you hear is what you get. I would recommend picking up a copy on cassette at Dreyfest because it sounds way fucking rattier than the digital copy, which in my opinion is refreshing.

Everyone seems to have a word or two that bugs them. What is your least favorite word?
M- I hate all swear words. Actually no I don’t, but I'm trying to stop swearing because my 18 month old daughter started saying the "S" word the other day. We promptly turned it into "sit".
A- I hate when gamer kids (my brother, other friends of mine) refer to beating people at video games or getting beaten as "raping" or "getting raped'. I cringe every time, that is just really poor taste to me.
C- Swag.
W- I mostly just don't like the word Nels... It makes my skin crawl!

What do you do with a drunken sailor?
M- Don't ever take him to the Denver Detox, I can tell you from personal experience that it is similar to the "christian hell" we were taught to believe in as children.
A- Have a drunken singalong. I would like to hope I'm drunk too in the scenario. Maybe he can teach me a shanty or two.
W- I'm going to have to go with Mike’s initial response on this: "Fuck him in the streets."
C- Put him on his side so he doesn't choke on his own vomit.

Wes, you recently did a tour playing guitar for Friends of Cesar Romero (who are also playing Dreyfest). How was it?
A- He was playing bass, ya dummy. I'll answer 'cuz I saw them play once, they sounded awesome and little Weston made me very proud.
W- I actually didn't play guitar but I did have the pleasure of being asked to play bass for the ever elusive Joseph Kerr... What an amazing tour to be a part of! I met so many awesome people along the way and also got to meet up with friends I hadn't seen in years. Its true when they that Johnny is one bad seed!! But seriously Mr. Miller showed me unspeakable things not fit for the faint of heart nor an interview for all of you. I miss the road already.

What was the last artistic thing you did before answering these questions?
C- Recorded some jams for my other project, Too Many Teeth.
A- I had the first "band practice" with me and my keyboard player for my solo project "Oxen Free" which will also be playing Richard Dreyfest this summer.
M- I styled my hair. Wes gave me a gentlemans mowhawk the other day...
W- I made a leather case for one one my knives that was gifted to one of my brother-in-law’s groomsmen.

Care to advertise for your new business? C'mon, plug dem knives!
A- Check out Wes' knives or he'll use em on ya!
M- My new business is a video/graphic design company called Ë media. We specialize in any type of video production and graphic design focused around advertising with an edgy look. You can check out our shit at https://www.facebook.com/emediacollective (shameless self promotion).
W- The only real knife that a man or lady truly needs is a strong meat knife!

Is there anything you'd like to say to the potential attendees of Richard Dreyfest?
A- Wear a plastic covering like you're going to a Gallager performance. Shit is gonna get messy and beer and blood will be spilled.
C- ))><(( back and forth. Forever.
W- Don't get a mud hole stomped in your butt...even though you should probably expect it.
M- If you come to Richard Dreyfest expecting to see anything in particular, you will be let down thoroughly. That is unless you watch FOCR, or Posture, or Alex Nauman Organ Trio, or any of the other great bands playing. But if you watch Noise or Weather-Control I can guarantee sheer disappointment. That, and when you leave Dreyfest you will be a permanently changed individual.

Hear hear!

...Or is it “here here”?.....Like “come here.....to Dreyfest”.....right?

...Or is it “hear hear” as in: “hear more of what these guys have to say because I agree with it”?
...
...
...Considering it further, I’d like to think it’s “hear hear” as in: “come to Dreyfest and hear hear this this music music”. Wokka wokka! ...wokka.

Oh hell, I don’t know- I’m no English major. I can bearly even use a damn keybored!

Here's some Weather-Control tunes:

SHOW FOR NOBODY

Sometimes there’s a lil’ gem right under your foot. ...or wait...it’s like: you smell some fumes but you have no idea where the odor is coming from. ...No, scratch that.....more like: there’s this haystack in front of you, right? And, like, your mom was sewing something and she was sitting right next to the haystack. And then she had to stop sewing ‘cause the way you were reading out loud while you were typing was annoying her. And then she had to correct your sentence structure ‘cause you kept starting your sentences with “And” and you used variations of the word “sentence” in a sentence four times...plus you switched from present tense to past tense...and added “sentence” in one more time for good measure. And then you told her to get off your back and that started an argument. And after a heated interaction, she realized she had lost something, so she couldn’t sew anymore. And she blamed you for it ‘cause you were “getting smart” with her (apparently she dislikes Don Adams), so she made you search in that haystack for the thing she lost. And you were so busy griping and acting the fool while searching, you forgot to ask what it was, exactly, that she lost. You assumed that it was a needle, ‘cause that would make a perfect analogy for the piece that you were being forced to write for these dorks and their dumb website, but as it turns out, after searching for what seemed like hours, you stumbled upon a spool of thread. And, funny enough, that’s exactly what Show For Nobody is like: a fictitious argument with your mom.

Here’s an interview with them:

Honorary titles, names, ages, what you do in the band:
Michael Siebert - Diet Folk. 18. Bass.
Jordan Perkic - Deadliest Catch. 17. Vocals and guitar.
Henry Goodridge - Goopy Goebbels. 17. Drums

West Philadelphia born and raised, or are you life-long Billings dwellers?
M: Billings. Shout-out to the wonderful staff at St. Vincent's for doing the Lord's work.
H: I was born inside of a clam in Vancouver. It's why I'm such a pearl.
J: I was born on a warm winter's morning in California. Then moved to the Big MT on my 10th birthday. I've had three arms ever since.

You guys have a different approach than many local bands in your age range. What do you attribute that to?
M: Digital copyright violations.
H: We don't have butts. And the only kind of music you can play without a butt is what we play.
J: Hatred of power chords.

Dreyfest is hosting some bands coming from out of town. What would you suggest they do around the area to keep themselves entertained in-between the shows?
H: Hobby Lobby all day long.
M: Kohls has a pretty clean bathroom that affords a decent amount of privacy, so you can be sure that you'll have a pleasant experience.
J: Mow my lawn. It won't take long if we all help out.

Sour, bitter, sweet, salty, or umami?
H: Soaring Sour.
M: Umami for days.
J: I actually don't have a tongue or taste buds, so I can't properly answer that.

The Watermelon Crawl or the Boot Scoot Boogie?
J: I know a guy who is allergic to watermelons.
M: Boot Scoot Boogie. Come on, is that even a fucking question?
H: Booter scooter'.

If you were in the position to change things at your work/school, what would you do differently?
H: I want the school to sprout wings. I don't want it to fly, I just want it to have wings.
J: Everyone has to fold shirts that they picked up or they will be vaporized.
M: Separate bathrooms for boys and girls would be nice.

"We briefly considered calling ourselves Show For One Guy,
but he left really quickly."

Describe your sound without using other bands as references.
J: All our riffs come to me in a dream and are played by a wizard in a velvet robe on the ceiling. So imagine that, because that's what we sound like, minus the wizard on the ceiling part.

M: It's like a blazing sunset at the end of a beautiful Tampa day. A day spent with friends, a day in the sun. Standing on a bridge, overlooking the vast coastline ahead, you think to yourself, "This is it. I am minuscule, yet I am infinite." Show For Nobody is a Cuban corn dog vendor just barely making enough money to get by, but doing what he loves. Show For Nobody is a child recovering from leukemia. Show For Nobody is the world, and all of the crazy, mixed up beauty in it. So, like, prog.

H: Fletcher went shopping at Albysons. Fletcher needed some green beans and maybe a squash. Fletcher found what he needed and went up to the cashier. Fletcher had some coupons for his green beans. Fletcher handed his green beans coupons to the cashier. The cashier looked at the coupons and said "These coupons are all for Wellmut. Not Albysons." Fletcher looked at the coupons and saw the cashier was right. Fletcher was sad. He didn't have enough money to buy his green beans without the coupons. Fletcher walked towards the door empty handed. Next to the door was the gummyball machine. "At least I can get a gummyball," thought Fletcher. Fletcher put his quarter in the machine and twisted. No gummyballs came out. Fletcher grew sadder. And that's us.

Woah. And I thought the introduction was ridiculous. Thanks for beating me at my own game, Show For Nobody. In all seriousness, catch these guys when you get the opportunity; their post-punk bass-reliant approach is unique to our area...and it may be that the only thing better than their wit is their music. See (them and) you at Dreyfest!

THE BEDLAM SAINTS

When initial planning for Dreyfest was going on, I think all the folks involved were into the idea that it should be an event with many different types of artists and not be geared solely toward one demographic or style of music. We’ve got punk bands, indie bands, jazz bands, metal bands, ska bands, solo acoustic acts, hip hop artists, stuff that skirts into the arenas of country and folk, and we’re certainly open to being inclusive of other styles too. If you like a lot of different musical styles or enjoy the diversity of having so many varied acts playing the same event, you might be of the same mind as us and you’re probably as happy as us that Bedlam Saints are on the bill.
Woah...someone on this blog made it through an entire paragraph without being silly or snarky. ...We’re growing as people.

Name/Sex/Age/Location:
The Bedlam Saints are Dean’o Hill on the turn-tables and Nick Miles on drums. We’re from Billings, MT and we like to party.

You are the first DJ/drum duo in our area, as far as I know- was there a specific inspiration to start this project or was it just an experiment-and-see-what-happens sort of thing?
N- It just sort of happened. I guess I got the idea in my head and started scouting around for good DJ’s. Dean’o happened to peak my interest. We talked it out and I think maybe did one “practice”. Ever since then we have never rehearsed, we just sort of wing it every time. Deano’s mixes are always evolving and I improvise with my drums over the top. We really just like to have fun and liven up a party.

On your Facebook profile, you give an artist description to the effect of "bar mitzvah hipster disco shit". Have you had that negative of a reaction from some people or is that just some good-natured self-deprecating stuff?
N- Dean’o put that in when we first made that page. I thought it was funny and never changed it. The Bedlam Saints are really more of a word of mouth kind of thing. Our Facebook is not properly maintained nor are we really on any other social media. We have more stickers around town than Facebook followers. We have our own chemistry going on where we just like have fun and party for 1 to 3 hours at 120db.

Would you be down for a real Bar Mitzvah? ...My nephew Saul Herschel Mendelbaum is almost of age.
N- We’re down! 120db cool?

Dean'o- How long have you been messing with the turntables? Are you one of those guys that's constantly on the lookout for new gear or are you pretty happy with your setup?
D- I've been on the turntables seriously about 8 years I've always kept my set up simple and haven't really changed it in 5 years. I rock 2X Technics 1200s and a Rane TTM-57 2 Channel Scratch Mixer. I don't rely on effects and bells & whistles, I rely on my skills as a turntablist.

"Yeah, I'm having a blast! ...It's just...Don't we need some sort
of clearance to play in an airplane hangar?"
Nick- you've been part of a lot of groups with a wide variety of styles in the past and present- from sort of post-rock stuff to punk bands to this dance-oriented stuff. I'm curious as to what you think the plusses and negatives are of being in your current projects.
N- I feel super grateful that I got the chances I’ve had in life. When I played in The-Front I fulfilled part of my weird adolescent fantasy, same thing when I played with members of CS-9 down in AZ. Same thing again when I got to play in the Photo Atlas for three years, and tour 200 days a year on average. It’s been one hell of a ride and I feel like I’ve been given a lot of opportunity through all my experiences. Right now I love playing drums with a DJ in my spare time and putting all of my excess energy into my newest project, No Cigar.

Your tonque-in-cheek description aside, how would you describe your sound to someone who has no concept of what this duo is about?
N- We are a DJ/Drum Duo. Dean’o plays his own eclectic mix of underground hip hop, good hits, and whatever he wants, and I play drums as hard as I can for as long as I can. I usually drive myself to the point of heat exhaustion and come close to throwing up, if not actually throwing up every time. Come party!

And party we will! Let’s ALL voluntary drive ourselves to the point of heat exhaustion and get sick TOGETHER!

SEE YOU AT DREYFEST!

DUCHOVNY

As a kid, every time we’d go to the store, I’d play “don’t step on the green tiles” (they were made of acid), and after my mom had paid for her groceries, we’d head for the door and I would ask if I could have a quarter for one of the cheapo lead-covered toys in the machines. Part of what was so fun about when she said yes was not knowing what I would get when the little plastic bubbles rolled out and I could pop the top off to hold my new toy in my small hand. ...I mean, you usually had some idea- if you put the coin in one machine, you would probably get a ring, if you chose the other, you would probably get a keychain. Some of the time it was a disappointment (A “pretty princess” sitcker?! I’m giving this shit to my sister! (and she didn’t want it either)), but other times it was a surprisingly cool thing that you didn’t fully expect.
And that’s the way I feel about Duchovny. I put my quarter in the “indie” machine, but I didn’t get the same ol’ same ol’. Upon hearing them for the first time, I was surprised by the punctuation of horns. The next thing I noticed was the oodles of interesting percussion. Maybe next was how smooth the vocals are. Intrigued? Me too. I guess it goes to show you: you never know what you’re going to get. ...Unless you’re Forrest Gump; then you will get a dead love, a motherless son, and a fortune in shrimp money. And an Oscar for Best Actor in a Lead Role.

What are your names, ages, and roles in the band?
Dylan Sonke (20) - Vocals, guitar, piano
Noel Afan Billups (20)- Vocals, piano/keys, ukulele, guitar
Andy Ezell (20) - Trumpet, flugelhorn
Dylan Halpin (20) - Saxes
Donovan Armijo (???) - Bass, guitar
Tanner Rogerson (20) - Drums

Duchovny, I admittedly know very little about you...there are several people involved in planning Dreyfest and I may be the only one who is unaware of your Billings connection. ...I’m assuming that at least one of you lived in Billings at one point(?). Who dat be?
Our trumpet player, Andy, is from Billings and he hooked us brothas up.

The band is from Greeley, Colorado. UNC school of music is located there, and given your fairly sophisticated sound, I’m going to make another assumption and say that some of you are students there. What are you majoring in and has it been what you had hoped for before attending?
Correct! Tanner is a percussion student majoring in music business; our bassist, Donovan, already graduated with his degree in jazz studies as a guitarist (so he's way better than all of us); Dylan Halpin is a jazz studies major on sax; Andy is a classical performance major on trumpet (he's actually leaving us this coming semester to go study in France for a semester...bastard); Noel was a music education major playing classical trombone but switched to math his sophomore year; and Dylan Sonke pursued jazz guitar his freshman year, but decided to major in communications towards the end of his freshman year I believe.
As for what we hoped for, I can't speak for the whole band but I know for Dylan Sonke and I (Noel), weren't getting what we wanted out of the music program. That is why we switched majors, but that is a whole different story haha.

Given the fact that so many people go to UNC for music, what’s the local music scene like there?
It's actually pretty incredible and supportive. There are a lot of talented musicians playing in bands that are in and not in the music program. Since the campus and college town are relatively small, you get a pretty tight knit community of musicians and creative people. And of course, the jazz scene is pretty amazing.

"I don't see a white bird logo anywhere...I'm beginning to think that you're
not really a photographer for American Eagle Outfitters at all!"
What becomes of the broken hearted?
They get married.

For those of you who have never been to Billings, MT, what are you expecting?
For it to be a drunken haze.

In lieu of money or a good time, Dreyfest should pay us with (filling in the rest of this statement makes this contractually enforceable and thus requires no signature or further statement from any party in, or associated with, Duchovny):
Hugs, hand shakes, and the occasional kiss.

Write a brief a character sketch of a typical person at one of your shows:
Most shows consist of Andy trying to get Dylan Halpin laid.

Duchovny is to Dreyfest as _______ is to ________.
Duchovny is to Dreyfest as Scully is to Mulder.

Any last words?
I want to believe.
Thanks for having us!

Thanks to us? Thanks to YOU for answering the questions and coming up for Dreyfest! ...And thank god we don’t have to pay you ‘cause now we can afford to pay Sammy Hagar...that guy has so many demands: “Pay me”, “Stop making fun of “I Can’t Drive 55””. Sheesh!
...And while we’re
on the subject of thanks, I’ve been meaning to say thanks to IMDb for the facts on Richard Dreyfuss, so I might as well do that and add that I would like to thank them for the info on Tom Hanks  too. Who knew that he made a one time appearance on Happy Days in 1974?!
See you at Dreyfest!
